Enjoyed Mike Venturino’s December “Grease Gun” article. My father was a glider pilot in WWII and kept his M3 under his seat, but kept his 1911A1 in a shoulder holster. Tom Hoats Allentown, PA. Well I am no expert on WWII 1911s but I have seen tons of WWII 1911 slides on Essex frames for sale at gun shows. Again.it could be a gem or a total basket case depending on who built it. Just like AKs and other guns that get put together with parts - it all depends on who built it and how well they did it.
